Summary:

At Breakwater Books, our mission is to publish books that reflect and preserve the diversity of Newfoundland and Labrador’s unique cultures, literary sensibilities, and history. We are Newfoundland and Labrador’s premier publisher since 1973, and we take pride in publishing both new and established writers to bring our stories to the world. We provide publishing opportunities for Newfoundland and Labrador writers amidst the competitive nature of the national industry and are strong supporters of new and emerging Canadian writers who demonstrate potential for success in the international publishing market. Breakwater’s role has always been to promote and advance the careers of Newfoundland and Labrador literary writers by publishing the highest quality poetry, drama, literary fiction and non-fiction, art, and children’s literature for national and international markets, while maintaining an extensive backlist of culturally significant titles. We are the only book publisher in Newfoundland and Labrador with a demonstrated 50-year commitment to literary works, one of a handful in Atlantic Canada with an award-winning literary program, and one of the longest standing independent publishing houses operating in Canada.
